She has travelled extensively and returned home to Christchurch in 2002. Following a hospital admission in early 2004 she positively manages living with chronic rheumatoid arthritis, osteopaerina, chronic asthma and endometriosis. At her largest she was 110 kgs and has had a rollercoaster journey from chronic illness to great health and wellbeing. She continues to learn to handle her conditions through exercise, nutrition, personal growth and self awareness and now strives to inspire and empower others to do the same.

In November 2011 Cate won the NZ Fitness HQH Up & Coming Personal Trainer of the Year.   She has also won Best Changes to Life in the Catch Fitness 20 Week Competition and in December 2009 she was a finalist in the Best Changes to Body Shape. Her passion is helping others reach their own goals and full potential. When she’s not inspiring others she loves hanging out with Riwai, exercising Prince (her Fox Terrier Miniature), and catching up with family & friends, and may be spotted at the odd coffee shop around town. She continues with her own health and fitness goals and is completed  Girls on Bikes in 2011 and is training for Outward Bound in 2012.
